Rajkumar and his wife belong to a village Bibal near Mazaffarnagar. Rajkumar ‘s wife Shila wati got cataract surgery done in her right eye in a private hospital near her house. They have four children who work as farmers on the little land they have. They just grow enough to feed their family. For the last couple of years, they have been burdened with debt as their produce has not been sold at a good rate. This time when their eyesight started getting affected, they went to the sarpanch and asked for help. The sarpanch told him about the eye camp which happens in the village. He also assured them about the quality of eye care offered at ICARE at no cost at all. Rajkumar decided to act on his advice and went to the camp in the village. Our team detected a cataract in Rajkumar’s right eye and cataract in Shila wati’s left eye. They were brought to the base hospital in Noida where their surgeries were carried out free of cost. Rajkumar and his wife thanked us with folded hands as now they do not have to be dependent on anyone for their daily chores.
