Ram Devi lives in Shamli, village Karoda, she lost her husband four years ago. She has six children four sons, in an accident she lost her one son, three of her sons are working as labours and daughter are married.
Her most cherished moments were those, which she spent with children when they were all living together, but her happiness came to an end the day she lost her husband and one son. Though her husband did not treated her properly when he was alive, but Ram Devi still had soft corner in her heart for her him.

Already grieving the loss of her beloved husband and son, Ram Devi felt completely defeated when she was injured in her right eye with sugarcane leaves which left the eye completely damaged. She was somehow working as a labour in a brick klin. After few years her left eye vision started diminishing gradually. She was unable to work and was dependent to her granddaughter (Jyoti) for daily works due to poor eyesight. Over the course of a year her visions got worsen to the point where she was blind.

“Life without sight was unbearable,” Ram Devi explains. She thought that she would live in darkness for the rest of her days and being burden to the family.

Fortunately, her daughter-in-law had heard about eye screening camp being hold in the village. Unable to watch her mother-in-law suffer any longer, she brought Ram Devi to the eye camp for examination.

There, Ram Devi was properly examined and diagnosed as having mature cataract in the left eye which needed immediate surgical intervention, her right eye treatment was not possible being severely damaged. She was brought to the base hospital in ambulance along with the rest of other patients after necessary examination and investigations her left eye cataract surgery with IOL implant free of charge was done 28.11.2016, next day her bandage was removed from the eye and Miracle happened in her life …………she could clearly see again. Ram Devi and her daughter in law who accompanied her were in tears for the lost vision she got after the surgery.
